Information Technology (IT) Course

Australian Pacific College (APC) offers Diploma of Information Technology. Our course is nationally recognised qualifications through the Australian Government's Vocational Education and Training Advisory Board (VETAB) of New South Wales .The course is approved for overseas students and listed with CRICOS numbers. The course is designed to maximise both the academic and professional pursuits of students by creating pathways to employment opportunities and further education in their respective fields.

General Course Information

Australian Pacific College (APC) offers business and IT courses for those students who wish to gain a broad understanding of the main functional areas of business and IT and to develop skills necessary for practical application of knowledge within these functional areas. The Business courses offer a useful and practical qualification for students interested in a career in business administration, sales, marketing or management. The IT courses lead to careers in IT support roles, advanced applications through to system design and IT system management.

Course Content and Structure

The Business and IT courses are structured around four 9 -week terms (36 weeks per calendar year). Typically, you would complete 4 modules per term. These modules are completed via a combination of classroom attendance and student self study. Assessment is competency-based and varies from one module to another.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Students may be eligible to obtain credits for individual modules as a result of experience gained in employment in relevant business fields or from previous training or education. A fee is payable for assessing your RPL status. Download RPL Application Form. Read the RPL Policy.

Successful recognition may result in a shorter course with advanced standing for some subjects.

Overseas students that gain recognition will have their course length and student visa duration reduced and course fees may be adjusted.


Articulation, Credit Transfers and Learning Pathways

APC Diploma graduates (in IT) can continue their studies in business, IT or management in the second year of a related undergraduate program at most Australian Universities, provided they meet all the University’s requirements. If you are interested in this pathway, please make inquiries at APC.

Pre-Requisites for entry into the Business or IT courses

Academic- Australian year 11 or equivalent

English Language Proficiency- Successful completion of English for Business and IT at APC or successful completion of the entry requirements for Upper Intermediate level at APC or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) proficiency level of 5.5 or above.

Description

This qualification moves into high level technical skills in information systems and business analysis and design. It places emphasis on client interaction and relationships as well as close attention to organisational and business needs. At this level you develop advanced skills in databases and operating systems operations and troubleshooting. Students enrolling directly into this course need to show that they have the fundamental skills in databases and preferably some work experience. The Certificate IV in Information Technology (Support) is a recommended preparation course. Graduate of the Certificate IV will “fast track” through the Diploma in 4 ½ terms with credit for 5 APC IT modules.
