Transport options

Transport in Adelaide is relatively convenient with a good public transport system that includes buses and trains. Many choose to live outside the city in Adelaide’s welcoming suburbs that offer a short commute.

If you are catching a bus, you need to pre-purchase your MetroTicket or metroCARD before you travel, as drivers can't sell you one and do not accept cash.

You can buy a paper MetroTicket or recharge your metroCARD from vending machines on-board trains and trams, or at many locations around Adelaide. Adelaide Metro on-board vending machines accept Visa/Mastercard, payWave and coin (excluding 5 cent pieces).

On tram and O-Bahn buses you can tap and pay with your credit card using a yellow smart validator.

Visit the Metro Adelaide Website

Adelaide Metro fares are the same on buses, trains and trams and remain the same no matter the distance travelled. You can pay with a rechargeable metroCARD, a paper MetroTicket or, if you're only using trams, you can get an Adelaide Metro tap and pay ticket using your credit card or smart device.

Visit the Go Cards website.

Transport from Adelaide airport to city or surrounds is simple with our Adelaide Airport bus services.

Out the front of Adelaide Airport there is bus stop 10 at the front of the terminal, instead of a dedicated airport-city connector.

Student accommodation

A variety of high standard student accommodation is available to suit different budgets and needs. Students can opt to live in university accommodation or with an Australian family. Shared accommodation with other students is also common and popular.

We can provide students with help in finding accommodation and understanding lease and tenancy conditions. Temporary accommodation can be arranged before you leave home allowing you time on arrival to consider where and how you would like to be accommodated in the longer term. Student notice boards and newspapers often advertise rooms, apartments and houses for rent.for more information visit our Student Accommodation page.
