Melissa Smith

Trainer and Assessor in Project Management

I love teaching at Australian Pacific College. Meeting new students and taking them on the project management journey and sharing our experiences and learning from each other.

I have been involved in project management for 24 years in various sections and departments of the Australian Government. I was part of the project to implement the Good and Services Tax (GST) and numerous other multi-million dollar projects. I project managed new IT system implementations, productivity improvements in staff work practices and quality improvement projects. I was a key liaison with our external project partner in developing and implementing the training strategy for all over 24,000 across the organisation with the implementation of new systems.

I have degrees in Management, Adult and Vocational Education and Training and a Masters of Electronic Commerce which have been key in roles I have held. I have taught undergraduate and post-graduate subjects at Griffith University as well as Southern Cross University. I have also taught at TAFE and written courses for them. My passion is teaching and being able to share my knowledge and experience as well as recognising the need to learn from each other. I have been teaching at APC for 3.5 years.
