The TAESS00019 Assessor Skill Set focuses on competency-based assessment practices aligned with nationally recognised units of competency and accredited courses. It equips participants with the essential skills and knowledge to assess competence and contribute to assessment validation processes, preparing them for assessment roles across vocational and workplace settings.

This Skill Set:

Course Structure

The TAESS00019 Assessor Skill Set prepares learners for assessment support roles within the vocational education and training (VET) sector.

Learners will build capability in assessing skills and knowledge, gathering and evaluating assessment evidence, making fair, valid, and reliable assessment decisions, and accurately recording and reporting assessment outcomes. 

Units of Competency

This course comprises the following nationally recognised units that provide credit towards TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment:

  • TAEASS412 – Assess competenceDevelops skills to assess learner competence in workplace and simulated environments in line with assessment requirements.
  • TAEASS413 – Participate in assessment validationBuilds capability to participate in assessment validation activities to ensure quality and compliance.
  • TAEDES411 – Use nationally recognised training products to meet vocational training needsDevelops skills to interpret and use training products to support effective assessment and training practices.

Skill Sets are nationally endorsed and outlined within Training Packages. They are shorter than full qualifications and typically consist of two or more units of competency designed to meet specific licensing or regulatory requirements, or clearly defined industry needs. 

Completing a Skill Set can also serve as a pathway to a full qualification, as the units of competency achieved may be credited towards the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
